WHAT'S UP KATIE ?
This is usually where I ask for a back story but Katie Lowes doesn’t really need an intro. She was on the highly successful show Scandal for 7 seasons (I did her makeup), she’s co-founder of IAMA theatre company, she’s had two podcasts (currently Unpacking the Toolbox), and you may have seen her on Broadway. I think she has more side-hustles than me!! She also happens to be one of my all time favorite people! So Katie, tell us what is happening in your life currently?
Hi! I’m currently going back and forth a ton between LA - where my kids are - and Charlotte, N.C. where I’m shooting a new series called The Hunting Wives ~

BEAUTY SECRETS & RITUALS~
Your skin always looks amazing so give us your secrets and how you manage your beauty routines with 2 kids?
I am definitely into skin care. My nightly and morning routine of potions, lotions and oils is so complex haha! I always take my makeup off and make sure my face is super moisturized because LA can be so dry! As for lasers etc - I love the Clear and Brilliant and the photo facial. I also do Morpheus on my neck skin to keep it lifted. It’s SO painful but has great results.

ZEN ZONE~
How do you stay grounded? Do you hide away for a nap? What's your go to to reset?
I am a huge napper, Short or long! I’ll take whatever I can get and it’s such a recharge for me. I am also a big reader, and I find that if I can just get 5 minutes with my kindle - it always resets my mind.

current obsessions ~

You and I are the same when we get obsessed with something. Our talks in the makeup trailer were always about beauty, the latest supplement, what we could do to NOT die from episodic TV hours and/or NOT look 100 by the end of the season!! So what are you currently telling all of your friends about?
I love the Reset Oil by Rejuvenate with Nousha, I use it nightly and massage my face with it. I love Osea for body lotion & the Pllow Mist. I am currently obsessed with all Harklinikken hair products!!! I lost so much of my hair after my two pregnancies and breast feeding and I swear it’s helping it all come back.

Rejuvenate with Nousha and Dr. Habashy at Divina are my go to everything for face.
I love Pause Studio for a wellness day which usually includes a Vitamin IV for balance, beauty and stress. I also try to do an Immunity IV right before travel.

DRUGSTORE BEAUTY?
I know we both love this mascara, It’s one of my favorite Drugstore finds & I think I got you hooked on the Scandal set ~
L’Oréal voluminous mascara of course!!

PASSION PROJECT ~What lights you up?
Being with my kids brings me the most joy and just listening to all the hilarious things they’re saying and thinking about these days.
Seeing theatre… Always!
Meeting up with my NYC bookclub and currently, being on set with The Hunting Wives - can’t wait for you all to see this show!

MAKEUP~
What trick/beauty hack have you picked up from makeup artists along the way and are there any new brands that you've been introduced to lately?
I am loving everything by Merit lately, It’s such a clean beautiful brand and it feels so luxurious when you put it on. I’m big into natural contouring, I have a rounder face so I when I learned how to lightly contour my cheeks - it changed everything.

SHOUT OUT~ Who inspires you?
Shonda Rhimes -always and forever. Kerry Washington - of course! I look to these women as power house working mothers and they are my mentors who I go to constantly ~

WORDS OF WISDOM~
You are such an inspiring and incredible mom and it shows in your kids, I am not surprised because you are so grounded and your parents are the loveliest !! So tell us some of your philosophies on raising kids, mom advice and what you're teaching your daughter about inner beauty and confidence?

I think the quicker I figured out that I can’t control anything when it comes to my kids the more fun I started to have. Parenting is like the greatest experience of surrender on earth!
My daughter is so into makeup already. she’s always playing with my stuff.
I try to instill confidence in her by leading by example. I hope if she sees my inner confidence that she will model beauty from the inside out. For example, I used to hate bathing suits because I never thought I looked good in them. And now I’m like whatever, I rock ‘em and make sure to walk around with confidence so she knows how grateful I am to have a healthy body!

CURRENTLY DAYDREAMING?
What's next for you? You always have so much going on..so what are you currently daydreaming of?
I am always daydreaming of far away places. I have a real wanderlust for travel, I am always planning something…always!! I think one of life’s greatest gifts is traveling to different parts of the world and experiencing life through other people’s perspectives. My whole family is off to Thailand next!
